Pêcher le soleil is a public artwork created for the new pavilion at Edmour-J.-Harvey Park in Sainte-Julie, the city where the artist grew up.

An allegory of childhood, the work evokes perseverance, happiness, and resilience. It depicts a life-sized child perched on a tree trunk, holding the sun in one hand and a fishing rod in the other. The sculpture captures that moment when childhood dreams become possible, when we can reach out and touch the very fulfillment of our hopes.

Standing fifteen feet tall, the sculpture is made of cast aluminum and rests on a stainless steel structure.

The artist would like to warmly thank the City of Sainte-Julie for its trust, as well as the Fonderie d’art d’Inverness for its exceptional craftsmanship, Atelier Bernier-D’Hulster for the quality of its metalwork, Concept Illumination for its valuable advice, Jean-Luc Lemieux and Benoît Lussier for their engineering expertise, Pro Pieux for the foundations, Olivier Heaps-Drolet, as well as Fero Transport and Magicolor for their contributions to the project.

Special thanks go to everyone who accompanied, encouraged, and supported the artist throughout this journey, to his family and friends, and especially to Amélie Marchand.
